  • Recognize elder abuse and possible strategies and interventions.
  • Discuss major concepts related to the end of life.
  • Identify different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, as well as interventions and treatments.
  • Identify the role of the nurse when caring for older adults, especially during the end-of-life transition.
  • Describe changes experienced by older adults through the life cycle.
  • Discuss fall risk and falls in the older adult.
  • Differentiate depression vs. delirium vs. dementia.
  • Name types of possible abuse experienced by the elderly and available resources.

Ames Heigh LLC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by New Mexico Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. For Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana only.
